After the Prince took Sweden’s throne, the castle was renovated to its modern appearance. In 1905, Oscar II gave it to his oldest grandchild, Prince Gustaf Adolf, and Margareta as a wedding gift. They made some positive changes, lightening the look and feel of the palace. When he became King in 1950, work began on the gardens and grounds, particularly on his beloved rhododendrons. The castle contains a restaurant and a modern art gallery today.

The Port of Helsingborg’s Dunkers Kulturhus is not just a museum. It is an events venue and a playground for the arts, history, and crafts. Occupying a new prize-winning building on the waterfront, visitors will find traditional museum displays, art exhibits, theater, dance, and music of all kinds going on together in the same building. Remembering the local school of music and the arts, the Dunkers Kulturhus also has a recording studio, a reference room, a bar, and a restaurant as well as a lounging area for relaxation. It is a great place for everyone to get together and enjoy life.
