The Gloucester Marine Terminal in Gloucester City is operated by Gloucester Terminals LLC to move perishable products, forest products, steel, heavy-lift and project cargoes, steel, and containers. The Gloucester Marine Terminal has more capacity than any other US terminal for refrigerated goods.
The Gloucester Marine Terminal occupies almost 60.8 hectares and contains four berths with a total length of 792.5 meters (2600 feet) with alongside depth of 13.7 meters (45 feet). The Gloucester Marine Terminal contains 13 buildings with total capacity for 424.5 thousand cubic meters (15 million cubic feet) of reefers and frozen goods. The Gloucester Marine Terminal has 56 reefer plugs The Gloucester Marine Terminal has 12 dry and/or heated buildings covering 55.8 thousand square meters (800 thousand square feet).
The Gloucester Marine Terminal is equipped with 45- and 30-ton container cranes, three 45-ton container top loaders, 288 forklifts with capacities ranging from 2.5 to 30 tons, a 30-ton yard hustler, and two rubber-tyred gantry cranes for magnet loading/unloading of railcars.
The Gloucester Marine Terminal is served by the Norfolk Southern and CSX railroads, and it has easy access to US Interstate Highways 76 and 95 as well as the New Jersey Turnpike. The Gloucester Marine Terminal has on-site US Customs, USDA, and Federal Highway Administration inspection facilities; container maintenance and repair services; an automated manifest system; and computerized gate facilities.
At the Gloucester Marine Terminal's Berths 9 and 9A, Holt Cargo Systems ships and receives containerized general cargo in both foreign and domestic trade. These Gloucester Marine Terminal berths are operated jointly by Holt Hauling & Warehousing Systems Inc., Gloucester City Refrigerated Warehousing, and Gloucester City Terminals.
Berths 9 and 9A at the Gloucester Marine Terminal have berthing distance of 274.3 meters (900 feet) and 192 meters (630 feet) with alongside depths of 13.7 meters (45 feet) and 10.7 meters (35 feet). There are about 40 acres of paved open storage at the rear of the wharf in addition to the operating area.
Created for recreational boating only, the Gloucester City Marina is open from every day April through October. The marina offers 24 slips for boats to 7.9 meters (26 feet) in length. Seasonal rentals are available at the Gloucester City Marina, and one-half of the slips have metered electric and water service for $100 for the season. Monthly 30-day dockage rentals are available at the Gloucester City Marina for $7 per foot with metered electric service for an additional $40 per month. Overnight rentals are also available at $25 for dockage over four hours or after 5pm. The Gloucester City Marina also offers boat and jet ski launches.
