The Port of Alpena Marina is owned by the city and operated by Thunder Bay Shores Marine Inc. The Michigan State Waterways Commission is the regulatory authority for the Port of Alpena and the marina.
The City's full-service marina offers refueling boats (for diesel or gasoline), dock hands that help tie-up and cast-off, a sewage pump-out station, a marina store, and a maintenance and repair facility. The dockhands are available (from 6am until 10pm) throughout the season that lasts from early June through Labor Day. The Port of Alpena Marina is a short walk away from downtown stores and restaurants.
The Boat Launch Fee in the Port of Alpena is $35 for the season or $5 per day. After September 1st, the Port of Alpena Marina offers winter storage. The marina basin must be empty of boats before September 1st before the ice forms.
Up to three Ynglings can be moored at a slip. The Yngling is a small racing keelboat that is a functional cross between a planing dinghy and a keelboat. Seasonal rates for Ynglings are based on the number of boats at the slip and the length of the slip.
Amenities at the Port of Alpena include electric service, drinking water, long term parking, 24 hour security, ice, restrooms, and showers. The boat launch and hoist are available for use, as is a fish-cleaning station. The marina also offers a dog run, a park and playground, and picnic tables and grills.
